Aviapolis is an area measuring 42 km2 that surrounds the Helsinki-Vantaa
Airport. Studies indicate that it has even surpassed the Helsinki city
centre as a preferred corporate location. This is evident, for instance,
in the very positive trend in jobs in the area.
There are good
reasons for its popularity. In terms of traffic connections, Aviapolis
is extremely centrally located between the east and west of the Greater
Helsinki Area, alongside the recently reconditioned Kehä III ring road.
Aviapolis
is a great place to live, too. One of its residential areas is the
highly desirable Kartanonkoski, next to the Vantaanjoki river – which,
by the way, has Finland’s only municipal international school.
What’s
more, Aviapolis is a shopping paradise – there are plenty of megastores
and shopping centres to choose from, each larger than the next and
boasting greater product mixes. At the time of writing, the Jumbo
Shopping Centre is being expanded into an entertainment centre with a
host of attractions.
The core of Aviapolis – and the driver of
its appeal – is the Helsinki-Vantaa Airport. This is evident even from
the area’s name.
